• What is the impact of an Active Life?

  • What is the biological and emotional response that occurs to us when we move our bodies?

  • How much fun can it be?

This is the pillar in which we change the narrative with which the Girls are bombarded daily by Social Networks.

Here we do NOT exercise to be a size "0".  Here we move the body to conquer physical, mental and emotional WELL-BEING, while having fun TOGETHER in the process

Yoga, martial arts, dance... The sky is the limit!

These are some of the Active Life & Wellbing workshops:

  • Creating a fitness routine that's fun
  • Effects of exercise and movement on your body and mind
  • Relationship with working out - mental health
  • Body image - no one's body is the same

What is the impact of an Active Life?

ECHO understands that a holistic approach to health and wellness is necessary for girls and young women to grow into healthy, happy, secure adults.

Boundaries With Technology

“It is essential to fight against a sedentary lifestyle.”

Physical activity is vital for the mind and body, and good habits start in childhood. Today, young women and girls are more sedentary than previous generations due to technology's outsized role in their daily lives. We show them how to set boundaries on screen time and navigate online spaces safely.

We raise awareness of cyberbullying and online predators and give them tools to protect themselves. For our teens and young adults, we explore how social media can negatively impact self-esteem and mental health and encourage awareness that images on social media are not often reflections of real life.

Coping Mechanisms/Stress Management

“We learn tools  to manage difficult situations.”

Effective stress management is critical for anyone who wants to be emotionally healthy. We aim to instill girls with coping strategies they can practice throughout their lives.

For this, we use foundations of mindfulness and self-care and rely on a combination of breathwork, yoga, martial arts, stretching, and movement.

We teach girls how to value exercise for the positive impact it can have on their emotional and mental health, ability to manage pain, and even defend themselves; we de-emphasize vanity. Awareness and healthy coping strategies for anxiety and depression are also important. We teach girls early on how serious these issues can be if left untreated. For teens and young adults, we also educate them about domestic abuse and substance abuse.

I think Echo has the potential to truly change the way in which women interact with one another

I think Echo has the potential to truly change the way in which women interact with one another. Instead of seeing each other as competition, they can learn to lift each other up even when they have different opinions.

I cannot imagine a better resource for girls

A girl with confidence is UNSTOPPABLE yet we all have our moments where we doubt ourselves or struggle with our confidence, especially in those crucial developmental years. If I could do anything in this world to help our future generations of girls, it would be to help them learn to be confident, love themselves & be self-sufficient in life.

Intimate/Sexual Knowledge

Teens and young adults must have access to accurate information about hormonal/bodily changes and sex/sexuality. For teens, the discussion starts with conversations about consent and how to deal with pressure to become sexually active. We explore ways sexual activity may impact one's health and emotions and what healthy intimacy looks like. With older teens and young adults, we discuss what to do in the event of an early or unplanned pregnancy, how to use contraception effectively, and how to decide whether or not to become sexually intimate with someone.
